Hourly floor × hours in a day — not a salary converter
The homepage salary tab divides a yearly target by billable weeks × hours, then a tax buffer you type. Example there: $80,000 ÷ (1 − 0.30) ÷ (48 × 25) ≈ $95.24/hr. This page does not redo that division. You paste a floor. Day package = floor × hours this booking actually buys. Typed: $95 × 7 = $665. Many people type 6–7, not 8, because a deep-work day is rarely eight billed hours. That $665 is the quote, not the deposit, not take-home after Stripe.
Commute is not in this product. If they asked you to show up, on-site hours + travel hours you type × this floor live on on-site day. This page will not bill travel at 50%.
Five $665 days = $3,325
Floor $95. Hours 7. Package $665. Five of those days: 5 × $665 = $3,325. Implied hourly is the floor you typed, not a new mill. If the booking is only 6 hours, type 6: $95 × 6 = $570. Do not leave 7 in the box and “feel” a discount.
Worked example 2 — half-day
True half hours: $95 × 3.5 = $332.50. That is hours, not a slogan. If the morning still dies to context-switching, type a share of the package: 0.50 × $665 = $332.50; 0.60 × $665 = $399. Default in the box is 0.50 so the number matches half hours on a 7-hour day. Change it. Not a rule that half-days are 60%.
Worked example 3 — agency vs independent keep
Independent: you invoice $665. Keep before the payout rail is $665. Card/bank cuts live on Stripe vs Wise (US card list 2.9% + 30¢ on that page’s fetched Stripe schedule — confirm in your dashboard).
Agency / production desk: same 7 hours, a share you type comes off the package first. Keep = $665 × (1 − share). Share 0.20 → $532. Share 0 → $665. You type 0.20 from the contract, not from a blog that “agencies take 20%.” This is not W-2 vs 1099 (that comparison is W-2 offer: 20h × $55 = $1,100 vs 20h × $90 × (1 − 0.30) = $1,260). This page is only the day package after a desk share you typed.
When a day package beats a timesheet
- Multi-day embeds where they will not sign every 15 minutes — still no commute in this number.
- Workshops and migrations billed as days, not a running hourly clock.
- Clients who accept a day sticker and fight a timesheet. The sticker still has to survive Stripe or Wise.
What this page will not do
- Will not rebuild the homepage profitable-rate tool (expenses, utilization, margin).
- Will not invent an industry day-rate table by craft or city.
- Will not add Wise or Stripe affiliate IDs. Those links stay untracked until tags exist.
- Will not treat marketplace seller fees as a day rate. TikTok Shop keep is TikTok Shop fees 2026.
FAQ
How do I convert hourly to a day rate?
Multiply. Floor × hours in that day. Typed: $95 × 7h = $665. Six hours: $95 × 6 = $570. Five of those 7h days: 5 × $665 = $3,325. Then subtract a desk share you type if you are not independent. Then gross for Stripe or PayPal so $665 still lands. Browse All KEEP hubs for rail take-home.
Is a half-day always 50% of the day rate?
Only if the hours are actually half. $95 × 3.5h = $332.50. Context-switching still eats the morning, so some quotes use a share of the package you type: 0.50 × $665 = $332.50; 0.60 × $665 = $399. Not a mill that half-days are 60%.
Is a day rate better than hourly?
For a booked day, the package stops the 11-minute argument. For unclear retainers, hourly or a monthly keep still fits. Build the floor on the homepage calculator; convert it here.
Independent $665 vs desk share — what do you keep?
Independent invoices the $665. If a desk takes a share you type, keep = $665 × (1 − share). Share 0.20 → $532. You type 0.20 from the SOW — not an industry 20% mill.
Does a day include 8 hours?
Only if you type 8. The default here is 7 billable hours because a deep-work day is rarely eight invoiced hours. Typed: $95 × 7 = $665; $95 × 8 = $760; $95 × 6 = $570. The product is floor × hours you actually sell — not a mill that a day is 8.
