Same closet SKU. Two US resale apps. The keep story is processing vs a listing-price 20%, a Poshmark $15 cliff, and an optional Depop 12% Boost — not a two-column mill that shouts “Depop 0%, Poshmark 20%.” Depop Help still prints no selling fee for US sellers, then takes 3.3% + $0.45 on item + shipping + tax (Depop fees explained). Poshmark’s live get-started guide takes 20% of listing price only at $15+, or a $2.95 flat under $15 (Poshmark fees explained). Ignore processing and the 0-versus-20 headline overstates the $40 gap by $1.77.
Default: $40 item. Shipping empty = $0 in Depop’s processing base (paste a dollar if you want the same postage on Depop; Poshmark’s 20% still ignores it on get-started). Depop tax empty = $0 — paste a receipt line; this is not a 50-state engine. Keeps are before COGS. Depop buyer Marketplace fee and Poshmark buyer $6.49 are not subtracted. Boost is off until you flip it. Poshmark overweight defaults to $0 (standard label up to 5 lb).
Depop keep from item+ship = (item + pasted ship) − [3.3% × (item + ship + tax) + $0.45] − optional Boost. Boost, if on, is 12% of item, plus shipping only when self-arranged. Poshmark keep = listing − ($2.95 if under $15, else 20% × listing) − overweight. Delta uses Depop item leftover (pasted ship treated as label cost) vs Poshmark keep. Planning only.
A zero-versus-twenty headline is the wrong unit. Depop’s published selling fee is 0% for US sellers. The line that actually comes out is payment processing — 3.3% plus a $0.45 flat — on a combined amount that can include shipping and tax the seller never keeps. Poshmark’s published commission at $15+ is 20% of a listing price. Optional Depop Boost is a third line: 12% that only fires after a boosted interaction and a purchase inside 28 days.
That is the opposite story from Depop vs Mercari. Mercari’s 10% on a $40 empty-ship sticker is $4.00. Boost $4.80 plus processing $1.77 = $6.57, and Mercari then leads ($36.00 vs Depop $33.43). Poshmark’s 20% on the same $40 is $8.00. Boost plus processing is still $6.57 — Depop leftover $33.43 vs Poshmark $32.00. Boost shrinks the Depop lead. It does not flip it on this published empty-ship run.
| Line | Depop US | Poshmark US (get-started) |
|---|---|---|
| Seller take | 0% selling fee; 3.3% + $0.45 processing | $2.95 under $15; 20% of listing at $15+ |
| Fee base | Processing: item + shipping + any applicable tax | Listing price only (shipping/tax not in the 20% on get-started) |
| Buyer line (not seller keep) | Marketplace fee up to 5% of item + up to $1 (excludes tax and shipping; shown at checkout) | $6.49 Ground Advantage standard label (buyer, per Terms) |
| Optional extra % | Boost 12% on item (ex-tax); shipping joins that 12% only if self-arranged | Promoted Closet is paid CPC — Poshmark publishes no default click price; do not invent ~$0.09 |
| Prepaid labels | No public US dollar table on How to ship - US (28 Aug 2026) — paste | One $6.49 label up to 5 lb; $5 / $10 overweight from earnings |
| Listing | Not a published US fee on Seller fees and charges | $0 |
| Cash-out | US payout article prints no withdrawal fee (gap — do not invent $3) | Withdraw anytime for free (checking, check, or spend on Poshmark) |
Depop: Seller fees and charges (updated 21 Jul 2026, fetched 28 Aug 2026), Boosted Listings, Marketplace fee. Poshmark: get-started (fetched 27 Aug 2026). Line-by-line stacks: Depop seller fees explained and Poshmark seller fees explained.
Depop Help, “Seller fees and charges,” updated 21 Jul 2026, opened 28 Aug 2026:
“No Depop Selling fees will be charged to sellers based in the UK, US, or AUS.”
The same table’s US processing row is 3.3% + $0.45 via Depop Payments (Stripe), “charged on the item sale price plus shipping costs and any applicable taxes.” The 15 Jul 2024 newsroom note that removed the old 10% US selling fee said “the usual payment processing fee will still apply.” Zero selling fee is not a $0 cost.
Poshmark get-started, fetched 27 Aug 2026:
“For sales under $15, we charge a single flat rate of $2.95. You keep the rest. For sales of $15 or more, we charge 20% of the listing price and you keep 80%.”
Those words are “listing price,” not listing plus shipping or tax. This compare does not put the buyer-paid $6.49 Ground Advantage label in the 20% unless the unread Fee Policy says otherwise. A $40 Poshmark listing with a $6.49 buyer label is still 20% × $40 = $8 — not 20% of $46.49. Get-started also says listing is free and they handle the financial transaction including credit card fees — this card does not stack a 2.9% processor on Poshmark.
Same $40 sticker, both shipping fields empty, $0 tax, organic:
Boosted Listings (updated 24 Jul 2026) and the seller-fees table (US/UK row, footnoted “new listings from 23 March 2026”) both print 12% for US sellers:
You’ll only pay a boosting fee if a buyer interacts with your boosted listing (views, clicks, or likes it) and then purchases the item within 28 days.
Boost is 12% on the item sale price (excluding taxes) and, if you have not used a Depop Shipping label, the shipping cost. It is in addition to processing. Poshmark Promoted Closet Terms (effective 16 May 2024) describe a paid CPC product with a weekly budget and an auction-set click price. Poshmark does not publish a default CPC. This page will not invent ~$0.09 and stack it on the 20% “to make the compare fair.”
Same $40, $0 ship, $0 tax, Boost fires (Depop label, so shipping is out of the 12% anyway):
Stale 8% wording: an older Help article, I don’t recognise a fee or charge, still mentions an additional 8% Boost fee. Current US published rate on Seller fees (21 Jul 2026) and Boosted Listings (24 Jul 2026) is 12% from 23 March 2026. This card models 12%. Confirm the receipt if a sale started before that date.
Mercari (on the other compare) is 10% at any price. Poshmark is not. Under $15 you pay a single $2.95; at $15 and up you pay 20% of listing. Depop does not change the 3.3% + $0.45 when the sticker crosses $15. The cheap-sticker story is two flats, not two percents.
| Listing ($0 ship, organic) | Depop fee / keep | Poshmark band / keep | Item-leftover delta |
|---|---|---|---|
| $12.00 | $0.85 / $11.15 | $2.95 cliff / $9.05 | Depop +$2.10 |
| $14.99 | $0.94 / $14.05 | $2.95 cliff / $12.04 | Depop +$2.01 |
| $15.00 | $0.95 / $14.05 | 20% / $12.00 | Depop +$2.05 |
| $40.00 | $1.77 / $38.23 | 20% / $32.00 | Depop +$6.23 |
On $12, Poshmark’s effective take is already 24.6% of the sticker — worse than the headline 20%. Depop’s $0.45 on $12 is already ~3.8 points before 3.3% runs (~7.1% all-in). Organic Depop still leads ($11.15 vs $9.05). Add Boost 12% × $12 = $1.44 and Depop keep is $9.71 vs Poshmark $9.05 — still Depop, barely. Do not use the October 2024 1-2-3 / 5.99%-of-order-total experiment — that blog 404s as of 27 Aug 2026; live get-started still quotes $2.95 / 20% of listing.
$14.99 Depop processing: 3.3% × $14.99 = $0.49 + $0.45 = $0.94, keep $14.05. $15.00: 3.3% × $15 = $0.50 + $0.45 = $0.95, keep $14.05 after round. Poshmark jumps from $2.95 to $3.00 at that same dollar. Price for demand, not for that four cents.
Poshmark’s last official published standard rate is $6.49 USPS Ground Advantage starting 12 Sep 2025 (down from $8.27), one label up to 5 lb. Source: Lower shipping starting September 12th. The 13 Feb 2026 heavier-items blog (Shipping heavier items…) did not reprint $6.49 but said there are no changes to the standard label up to 5 lb. Terms: buyer is responsible for shipping fees. Over 5 lb, seller upgrade is deducted from earnings: $5.00 for 5.1–10 lb and $10.00 for 10.1–15 lb (13 Feb 2026). That upgrade is the card’s overweight control. It is not in the 20%.
Depop How to ship - US describes Depop Shipping via USPS versus “Other” (you arrange tracked shipping). That article did not print a public US weight-tier dollar table on the fetch of 28 Aug 2026. Gap, same class as Poshmark’s unread Fee Policy: blogs quote unofficial ~$4.49 / ~$7.69 style tiers. This page will not. The $6.49 preset reuses Poshmark’s published buyer label as a same-SKU shipping dollar pasted onto Depop processing — it is not a Depop official rate.
$40 + $6.49 ship, $0 tax, organic:
Flip Boost on with a Depop Shipping label (shipping out of the 12%): processing $1.98 + Boost $4.80 = $6.78 out of $46.49, leftover $33.22 vs Poshmark $32.00 — still Depop by $1.22. Self-arranged shipping puts $6.49 inside Boost too: 12% × $46.49 = $5.58, leftover $32.44. Processing still follows shipping either way (Help’s processing cell does not carve out Depop labels). Self-arranged Boost is the line that can close the $1-and-change lead; paste the receipt. This page will not invent a Depop grid to force a flip.
Do not subtract Depop’s Marketplace fee from seller keep. What is the Marketplace fee? (updated 21 Jul 2026) applies to US and UK buyers buying in USD or GBP: up to 5% of the item purchase price plus a fixed amount of up to $1, excluding taxes and shipping. Exact amount is shown at checkout. Help does not publish one exact percent — this card will not invent 4.2% or any other unofficial midpoint. A $40 sale is not “Depop 3.3% + $0.45 + 5% + $1” off the seller. Mixing them is how blogs overstate Depop’s take.
Depop State Sales Tax in the US (updated 2 Feb 2026) says Depop calculates, collects, and remits US sales tax as a marketplace facilitator, and that the tax element is included when calculating the Payment Processing fee. Poshmark’s published 20% base is listing price — tax is not added to that 20% on get-started. Leave tax empty ($0) unless you are pasting a receipt line. This page will not clone a 50-state tax engine.
Cash-out is the other non-percent line. Poshmark get-started: you can withdraw earnings anytime for free (checking account, a check, or spend on Poshmark). Depop How do I get paid? - US (updated 12 Aug 2026): funds hit Depop Balance 2 business days after delivered or 10 business days after the sale, whichever comes first, then up to 5 days to the bank after withdraw. Gap: that article does not publish a withdrawal fee. This card does not subtract a Depop cash-out flat. Do not copy Mercari Instant Pay $3 onto either app.
$40 item, $0 ship, $0 tax, organic, no published Depop withdrawal fee / Poshmark withdrawals free
$40, $0 ship, Boost 12% fires (Depop label / shipping out of Boost)
$40 + $6.49 shipping (Poshmark’s published buyer Ground Advantage, pasted as the same dollar on Depop — not a Depop official rate)
$12 listing (Poshmark cliff + Depop $0.45 bite), $0 ship, organic
Same $40 Poshmark listing at 8 lb: still $8 commission, plus the published $5.00 5.1–10 lb upgrade from earnings → $27 keep before COGS if the buyer still paid $6.49. Depop has no matching $5/$10 tier on the pages we opened — paste the shipping dollar instead. Do not invent a Depop overweight schedule.
No hype — processing, Boost, the cliff, and the shipping dollar decide, not the brand of app.
Volume, Promoted Closet CPC (Poshmark publishes none), Depop bundle processing-once, and returns are outside this SKU snapshot. Put those on the explained pages, not as a blended resale tax.
Same SKU on Mercari is a third stack — 10% of item + buyer-paid shipping: Depop vs Mercari (Boost can flip that pair) and Mercari vs Poshmark. Handmade / Amazon referral: Etsy vs Amazon seller fees. eBay is a category-table stack: eBay fees explained.
Not as a slogan. $40 / $0 ship organic: keep $38.23 vs Poshmark $32.00 ($6.23 — the slogan would have been $8). Boost 12%: Depop $33.43 vs Poshmark $32.00 ($1.43). $40 + $6.49 Poshmark label $ (pasted as the same dollar on Depop): leftover $38.02 vs $32.00 organic. Under $15 Poshmark is $2.95, not 20%. Last checked 28 Aug 2026. Confirm in each seller account.
Depop yes — processing 3.3% + $0.45 on item + shipping + tax. Poshmark get-started: 20% of listing price. Buyer $6.49 Ground Advantage is not in that 20% on get-started. Depop How to ship - US printed no public US label grid on 28 Aug 2026; paste. Fee Policy body was unread on 27 Aug 2026; your closet statement wins if it differs.
On the published $40 empty-ship run, no. 12% of item plus processing = $6.57 vs Poshmark $8.00. Keep $33.43 vs $32.00. Self-arranged shipping can close that $1.43; we will not invent a Depop label grid. Current US rate is 12% from 23 March 2026, not the stale 8%.
No. Depop Marketplace fee is up to 5% of item plus up to $1, excluding tax and shipping, shown at checkout. Poshmark $6.49 is a buyer shipping line. Do not subtract either from seller keep. Do not feed $6.49 into the 20%.
The Fee Policy tab on poshmark.com/terms exists, but the JS legal center did not yield body text. Support 297755057 returned 500; Wayback had no article body. How to ship - US had no dollar grid (28 Aug 2026). How do I get paid? - US prints no withdrawal fee. Do not invent unofficial label tiers. Re-check the Fee Policy in a browser.
