That 0% selling fee is the US row on Seller fees and charges, updated 21 Jul 2026, opened 28 Aug 2026: “No Depop Selling fees will be charged to sellers based in the UK, US, or AUS.” The same table’s US processing row is 3.3% + $0.45 via Depop Payments (Stripe), “charged on the item sale price plus shipping costs and any applicable taxes.” Do not copy Mercari’s 10%, Poshmark’s 20%, or an invented 2.9% card rate onto this marketplace.
Depop’s newsroom (15 Jul 2024) removed the old 10% selling fee for US sellers on new listings and said “the usual payment processing fee will still apply.” Source: Depop removes selling fees in the United States. Live Help still matches that: no selling fee in the US, UK, or Australia.
Zero selling fee is not a $0 cost. Every US BUY-button sale still pays the processing line. Worked planning math (not a payout screenshot), $0 tax, $0 Boost:
That $45.97 still holds the postage dollar you charged. If the label actually cost $8, item leftover before COGS is $37.97 — $0.26 worse than a $40 sticker with $0 ship, because processing followed the shipping dollar.
Help’s fee-basis cell is explicit: the US payment processing fee “is charged on the item sale price plus shipping costs and any applicable taxes.” State Sales Tax in the US (updated 2 Feb 2026) repeats the tax part: Depop still has to process the full amount, “so we do need to charge the Payment Processing fee on the total amount, including tax.”
That is the unique US trap vs Poshmark’s listing-price 20% (shipping not in that % on get-started) and vs Mercari’s 10% (shipping in the %, no separate seller processing % on new listings). On Depop you can pay processing on a tax dollar you never keep, because Depop collects and remits sales tax as a marketplace facilitator.
This page will not clone a 50-state tax engine. Help lists states where Depop collects (a 2020 / 2021 / 2023 / 2026 table on that article). Rates, locality, clothing exemptions, and “is this SKU taxable” are not published as a calculator. Leave tax empty ($0 in the base) unless you are pasting a receipt line.
What is the Marketplace fee? (updated 21 Jul 2026; effective 18 Jul 2024 in the US) charges US and UK buyers buying in USD or GBP:
Do not subtract 5% + $1 from seller keep. A $40 sale is not “3.3% + $0.45 + 5% + $1 off the seller.” The seller line is processing on the processed total. The buyer line is a checkout add-on that funds Depop Protection and support, per that article. Mixing them is how blogs overstate Depop’s take from the seller — the same mix-up this hub already calls out on Mercari’s 3.6% Buyer Protection line.
Help does not publish one exact percent. “Up to 5% + up to $1” is the ceiling, shown at checkout. This card will not invent 4.2% or any other unofficial midpoint.
Practical effect you still feel: the buyer’s total is higher, so a $40 sticker can look more expensive at checkout than the same sticker on an app without a buyer fee. That is conversion, not a second seller percent.
Boosted Listings (updated 24 Jul 2026) and the seller-fees table (US/UK row, footnoted “new listings from 23 March 2026”) both print 12% for US sellers.
You’ll only pay a boosting fee if a buyer interacts with your boosted listing (views, clicks, or likes it) and then purchases the item within 28 days.

That “if you arrange your own” clause is the Boost-specific shipping trap. A Depop Shipping label keeps shipping out of the 12% base. Self-arranged shipping puts shipping in the 12% base. Processing still follows shipping either way (Help’s processing cell does not carve out Depop labels).

Organic keep on that $48 was $45.97. Boost ate $4.80–$5.76 — more than Mercari’s entire 10% on a $40 sticker ($4.00). The 0% selling-fee headline does not survive a boosted thin-margin SKU.
Stale 8% wording: an older Help article, I don’t recognise a fee or charge, still mentions an additional 8% Boost fee in a general paragraph. Current US published rate on Seller fees (21 Jul 2026) and Boosted Listings (24 Jul 2026) is 12% from 23 March 2026. This keep card models 12%. Confirm the receipt if a sale started before that date.
Seller fees and charges does not list a per-listing fee for US sellers. This page will not invent $0.20 or any other listing flat. What is Depop Payments? says Depop Payments (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna, cards) “is a requirement for sellers in the US, UK, and Australia.” Do not add a PayPal seller-processing guess on a US account — Help routes US processing through Stripe / Depop Payments at 3.3% + $0.45.
Fees apply automatically to sales made through the BUY button. If the sale is refunded, Help says selling, processing, and boosting fees reverse too (automatic on Depop Payments). Bundles: for US sellers the selling-fee-per-item note does not apply (there is no selling fee); “The payment processing fees will apply once per bundle transaction.”
How do I get paid? - US (updated 12 Aug 2026): sale money goes to Depop Balance. Withdraw to a connected bank at any time (once available).
