Official clothing and branded-fine-jewelry bands from RealStyle (fetched 28 Aug 2026). Default row: clothing, $400 Net Selling Price, Trendsetter, cash → $300–$749 band = 60% → $240.00. Loyalty adds the printed +1 / +2 / +5 points only as a labeled planning switch. Handbags and watches are not in this card — RealStyle did not print those grids.
On Poshmark, “20% commission” is the take. You keep 80% of listing price (or listing minus $2.95 under $15). On Grailed, “9% seller fee” is also the take. The RealReal’s legal name for the dollar they send you is also “Commission,” but the rate is the keep. RealStyle’s FAQ sentence is the tell:
“Our commission structure is based on your sales volume. We pay between 20% – 70% based on your item’s value.”
Indexed consignor terms say the same algebra without the clothing grid: Commission = Net Selling Price × applicable Commission Rate, and the Rewards chart lives at therealreal.com/commission-chart (they may update it). If you paste a “The RealReal takes 55%” blog number into a Poshmark-style worksheet, you have inverted the keep.

RealStyle then says earnings “will differ for handbags, branded fine jewelry, watches, and men’s sneakers and collectibles” and only prints the jewelry grid as the example. Indexed FAQ: rates also sit on net sales in a one-year commission window, plus “item commission rates” that pay more for in-demand, high-value pieces and less for lower-value, lower-demand ones. RealStyle does not show a combined clothing-plus-VIP table. Indexed consignor terms: Net Selling Price is the sold price less applicable discounts and promotions, excluding taxes and shipping. Net Sales in a commission window is the sum of those NSPs. Their own example (indexed): three sold items at $5,000, $100, and $4,000 → Net Sales $9,100 for that window.
If they mark a $500 list down to $400 before it sells, the clothing band and the 60% sit on $400, not on $500. A 50-state tax table would be the wrong tool: tax is already outside the official base. Empty tax on this page is not an assumption we invented — it is how they define NSP.
RealStyle: experts set a competitive price from their data; listing generally takes about 2–3 weeks from receiving to live; commission requires a sale inside a specified window, generally 365 days; unsold items may be returned. You are not editing a Grailed Ask. You are not toggling a Poshmark closet discount yourself unless a written agreement says otherwise (indexed terms: they generally determine the initial sale price). Markdowns are how NSP — and therefore your keep — can shrink after you have already shipped the bag.
RealStyle (same live fetch): more than 90 in-house experts inspect every item; AI looks at dye, fabric, and stitching; a database of prior consignments; metal-composition tests on jewelry, watches, and handbag hardware. Indexed FAQ copy raises that to 150+ experts (gemologists, horologists, authenticators from houses such as Tiffany, Hermès, Rolex, Sotheby’s, Christie’s). This page leaves 90 vs 150 as a gap. Either way, the buyer is shopping an authenticated listing, not your phone photos. That is the opposite of a Poshmark closet and the opposite of listing first / authenticating later on a Bid/Ask board.
